# Canon Inc., Developing EOS R1: A Flagship Model for the EOS R SYSTEM
Canon Inc. is developing the EOS R1, a full-frame mirrorless camera that will serve as the flagship model for the EOS R SYSTEM. This highly anticipated camera will be released in 2024 and will come equipped with an RF mount. Designed to cater to the needs of sports, journalism, and filmmaking professionals, the EOS R1 combines advanced technology with exceptional performance, durability, and reliability.
## Enhanced Image Processing with DIGIC Accelerator
In addition to the preexisting DIGIC X processor, the EOS R1 will utilize the recently developed DIGIC Accelerator image processor. This cutting-edge image processing system, which consists of both processors and a new CMOS sensor, enables swift processing of large amounts of data and introduces unprecedented improvements in Autofocus (AF) and other features.
## Accurate and Fast Subject Recognition
Canon has achieved accurate and fast subject recognition by combining its new image processing system with deep learning technology. This innovative approach has significantly improved subject tracking accuracy, even when multiple subjects overlap, such as in team sports. Furthermore, the AF “Action Priority” feature swiftly analyzes the subject’s movement to determine the main subject, particularly during unpredictable sports games. This allows for quick adjustment of the AF frame, facilitating the capture of crucial moments during gameplay.
## Improved Image Quality and User Creativity
The latest image processing system, integrated with deep learning technology, enhances overall image quality. Canon has incorporated the image noise reduction feature, previously developed for PC software, into their cameras. This addition not only improves image quality but also stimulates user creativity.
## Field Testing and Future Plans
Canon is conducting field tests of the EOS R1 to capture significant moments at upcoming international sporting events.
